fissara CEO: Responding quickly to the pandemic, a new way of working

As businesses grapple with the changing operational landscape and how to respond to a new way of working, Maven spoke to Jon Holttum, Founder and CEO of NPIF and Maven backed fissara to discuss his company’s journey after receiving funding and how it bolstered his company’s response to COVID-19.

At the end of January 2020, we gained backing from NPIF - Maven Equity Finance, managed by Maven and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund. The plan was to significantly increase marketing activity, rebrand the business, build a larger invigorated sales team and add clarity to our products and propositions. Work furiously began post the investment on recruitment, collateral creation and marketing campaigns.

In mid-March I took the decision to close our office and set the business up to work from home due to COVID 19. We had to quickly develop a new strategy and across the board refocus the business to be able to sell entirely on line.

Our software, products and propositions enable businesses to operate from anywhere completely distributed without the need for face to face interaction, in addition our markets are made up of companies that provide vital services in Telecoms, Utilities and Waste all of which are classed as “key workers.”

Responding quickly to the pandemic has not only been vital but also proved the value of our products. This coupled with increased activity in business development and marketing campaigns is delivering a surge in interest in our business. As of last week, we have seen a 2,100% increase in visits to our new website fissara.com, average open rates of 22% on over 10,000 personalised targeted emails sent, and new appointments being booked for on line demonstrations increasing each day.

The real proof is the fact that we took a new prospect (Adamas Telecoms) through to being a paying customer for fissara in under 6 weeks. We have never met them face to face! This trend is reinforced by the fact we are engaging with a real sense of urgency with companies that have been dormant in our CRM system for a long time, the pipeline is growing and new product trails are starting each week.
